Club Brugge coach defends Onyedika’s red card against Fiorentina

Onyedika suspended for Club Brugge vs Fiorentina:

Club Brugge manager, Nicky Hayen, refused to blame Raphael Onyedika after the midfielder was sent off in Thursday night’s UEFA Europa Conference League encounter against Italian club, Fiorentina.

The hosts capitalized on their numerical advantage to beat Hayen’s side 3-2 in the semi-final first leg tie.

Onyedika was first booked for a poor tackle in the 58th minute.

It's unfortunate that Raphael Onyedika was sent off during Thursday night’s UEFA Europa Conference League match against Fiorentina. The manager of his team, Club Brugge, Nicky Hayden, however, refused to blame Onyedika. The midfielder received his first yellow card for a poor tackle in the 58th minute and was dismissed three minutes later after receiving his second yellow card of the game.

As a result, he will miss the second leg of the match next Thursday. According to Hayen, Onyedika didn't realize he already had a yellow card, and this was evident from his reaction after receiving the second one.

The manager defended the player, saying he is intelligent and wouldn't have used the tackle in that way if he knew he already had a yellow card.
